PayWithIt Secure Mobile Payment Acceptance App

Interview with PayWithIt® Product Manager

Learn about the new features and functionality in the latest version of PayWithIt

The latest and greatest version of PayWithIt® is now available. PayWithIt is TrustCommerce’s secure mobile payment acceptance solution available through the Apple app store and is compatible with all iOS devices. PayWithIt enables merchants to securely capture payments via encrypted card swipe or manual entry.  It is ideal for merchants who would like to accept credit cards, signature debit, and ACH on the go and is in use today in a variety of environments, such as non-profit, healthcare, parking, retail, education, and others.

I recently sat down with PayWithIt Product Manager, Arian Maybod to learn about what sets this new version apart. Arian has managed PayWithIt since inception and is supporting and managing the current release.

TC: PayWithIt recently celebrated its birthday. Can you share with us what sparked PayWithIt?

AM: Mobile payment acceptance is really growing. The latest research estimates $1 trillion in global transactions by 2015 [1].  Forrester Research projects approximately $90B in mobile transactions by 2017 [2].

When we launched PayWithIt, we wanted to give our merchants the opportunity to be at the forefront of this growing trend, leveraging the advantages that mobile payments bring to the payment mix—convenience, speed, cost-savings—with the security for which TrustCommerce is known.

Have You Tried Dynamic Reporting?

When something new is available, are you the first to try it? Or, do you like to stay in your comfort zone? If you have been approaching your reporting tasks routinely, following the same processes, you might want to take a look at the Dynamic Reporting feature included with your TC Vault account. Although Dynamic Reporting is robust and features many customizable options, it is easy to learn how to use. Building a custom report is fast, easy and most importantly it can make your reporting activities more efficient.

Merchant Payment Solutions

Set Up a Secure E-Commerce Payment Application: Part 1

In this two-part series, we will talk about two popular payment acceptance paths for e-commerce: Embedded API for Direct Post, commonly referred to as transparent redirect, and hosted payment pages. We will look at how the solutions function and things to consider when selecting your preferred method.

Recently, I went to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Center. It is an impressive piece of history to see firsthand. I could not help but think of how often you hear, “This isn’t rocket science.” This actually was rocket science! The complexity and inner workings of this ship are incomprehensible to most of us, a little intimidating, yet awe-inspiring.

The good news is that setting up a secure e-commerce environment doesn’t have to be rocket science, although it may sound like it. Known in the industry as “transparent redirect” or “Embedded API with Direct Post”, TC Trustee API is an elegant e-commerce payment solution that lets merchants do what they do best—manage the web site, user experience and environment—but leave the payment acceptance and security to the experts.

An embedded feature of the merchant-hosted payment form, the TC Trustee API code posts financial transaction field data from the customer browser straight to the TC secure processing platform. It is easy to set up, requiring a small amount of code and basic programming skills.

Make Payment Security a Daily Priority

Merchant who store, process or transmit cardholder data, must be compliant with the PCI Data Security Standard. More often than not, PCI DSS Compliance is a starting point for protecting payments, not an achievement that can be crossed off a check list.

Headlines remind us of the ongoing risk of data compromise. A franchising company is the latest example. According to the company’s press release, an internal forensic investigation, launched after fraudulent activity was found on several payment cards that had been used at the company’s locations, identified suspicious files, including malware, on the licensees’ computer systems at 108 locations in 10 states. The franchising company is concerned that the suspicious files could indicate that an attacker(s) may have accessed data, including credit and debit card information. It is yet to be determined whether credit or debit card data was exposed.

To help you better understand how TrustCommerce’s security products could have helped prevent this “malware” attack, here are some key points.

Tokenization, E2EE, and Other Secure Payment Solutions

How can merchants address the threat of a payment data compromise?

Credit and debit cards have rapidly become the preferred payment method across the globe. We all swipe our credit cards at the check-out counter and enter our credit card numbers into e-commerce websites, usually with little thought to where the data ends up. But there are people waiting on the other end of that transaction ready to capture payment data and use it fraudulently.

Network intrusions and data compromises continue to plague the payment card industry. At the 2012 RSA Annual Security Convention, RSAʼs Executive Chairman, Arthur Coviello, told the audience, “Our networks will be penetrated. We should no longer be surprised by this.” His statement came within months of the disclosure that RSA, one of the worldʼs largest and most respected security companies, had been breached and the code to SecureID, their two-factor authentication solution, stolen. Mr. Coviello then told the attendees, “The reality today is that we are in a race with our adversaries and right now, more often than not, they are winning.”

Secure Payment Solutions that Come with a Guide

On my morning commute, lost in thought, I drove right past the office. Snapping out of it, I realized what I’d done, took a right turn and began my detour back to the office.  Having never gone this route, I saw buildings and roads I’d never seen before, discovering better paths for future trips.
Seeing things in a new light makes me think about the TrustCommerce professional services team. What I love about our team is how they look at a project from every angle – upside down, backwards, and sideways before arriving at a clear plan for reaching an objective. Our team has lead projects and implementations for leading organizations in key vertical markets and apply that unique knowledge to every project.
