The most populous city in the state of Nevada, Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city. One of the top tourist destinations in the world, Las Vegas sees more than 41 million visitors annually.
To serve a growing and dynamic population, the City of Las Vegas has approximately 15 surface parking lots, 900 on-street metered spaces, and five garages. The parking services staff consists of parking enforcement officers, a maintenance team, and a customer service team. These teams manage and operate the City’s parking assets including parking enforcement, facility maintenance and operation, and special event parking.

Customers Want Ability to Pay for Event Parking with Credit Card
Downtown Las Vegas is a popular location for events such as parades, festivals, and concerts. As an entrepreneurially driven organization, the City made the strategic decision to operate their parking lots for event parking. To do so, they began staffing lots with enforcement officers, who collected the parking fee in advance of the event. However, the City was losing customers and sales frequently, as well as receiving customer complaints, due to their inability to accept credit cards during this type of operation.
With a commitment to improving customer convenience while safeguarding payment information, the City wanted to add the ability to accept credit card payments on site. The solution needed to be able to address PCI DSS requirements and ease compliance efforts and costs.
Performance expectations were clear—processing time had to be fast, reporting had to be accurate, and the City needed the ability to reconcile bank deposits effectively.
The City turned to AIMS Parking Management Software and TrustCommerce to deliver the capability to accept credit cards in the field for event parking. The TrustCommerce & AIMS Solution
AIMS Parking Management Software, a TrustCommerce partner, enables full-service management of the City’s event parking needs including setup and tracking of events, pre-payment of event permits online, and real-time event management in the field. AIMS integrated with TrustCommerce TC Link® API to enable the City to accept credit cards securely via their software interface. The City purchased encrypting mobile card readers directly from TrustCommerce to ensure proper integration and the highest levels of security. Card information is encrypted at the point of entry (swipe) protecting the customer and the City.
The City of Las Vegas was up and running quickly, fully integrated TC Link® API with AIMS Parking Management Software, within only 60 days.
Today, this joint technology supports a team of users within the City’s Parking Services department. The solution was easy to train employees on and is simple to use. Both staff and customers find the solution seamless, making the payment experience convenient and smooth.
